Another project I am involved in is called IBIS - Internet-based Information System. The goal of IBIS is quite the same as that of OMNI with two differences worth of mentioning:
a) IBIS will cover not only medicine but all subject areas, and
b) IBIS will be funded in hardware and software but not peopleware. Instead of being dependent on volunteers, selection, evaluation, indexing, and cataloguing will be done at each university library as a part of the routine work. IBIS selects, evaluates, annotates, indexes, and catalogues Internet sources of local, regional, national, and world wide origin.
